On the 70th Anniversary of the Birth of al-Mujahid Leader President Saddam Hussein al-Tikriti

April 28th, 2007

The North American Committee Against Zionism and Imperialism (NACAZAI) commemorates the 70th anniversary of the birth of President Saddam Hussein Al-Tikriti, father of all modern martyrs, with somber feelings of deep gratitude and appreciation for his historical accomplishments  of meeting the Zionist entity and imperialism in lifelong combat as the jihadic lion and proud son of the Arab homeland.

History will record through song and verse the greatness of Saddam Hussein, the sole genuine revolutionary ruler in the entire Arab homeland for our era.

Saddam Hussein built Iraq into a jewel. Iraq became a modern prosperous country with a high standard of living, health services and education.

He nationalized the oil of Iraq and used it for the advancement of the popular masses.

He brought into full play the role of women according to the glorious Arab Islamic traditions of his people, raising the standards of women in society to that of leadership positions and combatant fighters.

These accomplishments, though they are greater than anything his detractors will ever accomplish, were not enough for him.

President Saddam Hussein was the embodiment of the Arab Socialist Renascence project, as defined by Ba’athist founder Michel Aflaq.

He understood the course of struggle in the Arab nation and the world for national liberation and the social revolution.

He was never willing to accept that socialism could be built in one Arab country alone, but that the whole Arab nation must realize the full extent of the sacred unitary mission. This is why under his care Iraq gave untold moral and material support to the cause of unity and struggle, supporting the creation of Ba’athist organizations throughout the Arab homeland.

President Saddam Hussein stood by the Arab Identity of Palestine, never even considering normalization of relations with the Zionist usurpers. Iraq was home to scores of Palestinian refugees who lived quality lives as revered equals alongside other people in Iraq. Freedom fighters were given refuge coupled with vast material and moral support. The families of Palestinian martyrs were taken care of despite the condemnation of imperialism and the defeatists.

He used oil as a powerful weapon of boycott. Then later he struck devastating blows to the Zionist entity with Scud missiles.

The Iranian Khomeinianite hegemonists, filth who cherish a historical desire to swallow Iraq and the whole of the Arab Gulf, were confronted at a tremendous cost in blood by the Arab people under the president’s care. President Saddam Hussein fought the Khomeinianite Safawayeen hegemonists for 8 long and hard years never wavering or giving up a single inch of the Arab land or independence. This great sacrifice is responsible for carrying forward with the Arab character and culture today, for which the Arab people owe President Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi people a huge debt.

For all the lies and slanders about President Saddam Hussein, who never really “gassed the Kurds”, he did more to advance the cause of Kurdish culture than any other leader of any state were Kurds reside in mass. An entire autonomy region was developed for the Kurds to express their mother tongue and culture. All struggles between the Ba’ath and various Kurdish forces should be seen as a just struggle to confront balkanization and the forces of imperialism, Zionism and Iranian hegemony.

It took the entire might of imperialist “international law” to even attempt to confront H.E. President Saddam Hussein after defending the Arab revolution and forward march directed against the Kuwaiti comprador.

National liberation movements were given firm support and solidarity. From the African struggle against apartheid, to the struggle of Cuba for sovereignty, to the freedom fighters of Vietnam, Saddam Hussein supported the unity of the Third World with words and deeds his entire life.

Both Sunni and Shi’a sectarianism was struggled against, and the Ummah was strengthened considerably by the president. This happened alongside concrete efforts aimed at the strengthening of unity between Christians and Muslims in the Arab homeland.

Now today the Iraqi resistance is what it is neither despite nor without regards to, but directly because of the guidance of President Saddam Hussein in preparing for guerrilla warfare a decade in advance and acting to strengthen the consciousness and unity of the Iraqi people.

We saw him lead the resistance. Then we saw him mock and defy the puppet tribunal. Greatest of all, at the point of his brave martyrdom he chanted “Long live the nation!”

Now today, the greatest of all mujahedeen theorists and practitioners of modern times is a spiritual force cherished by the lions in Iraq and Palestine, revolutionary freedom fighters around the world.

From his humble peasant boyhood to the peak of struggle against the enemy, he gave everything and struggled to the last.

Oh Saddam, may the Arab nation and all the resistant peoples’ of the world forever soar like the eagle you were!
