Five patriots of socialist Cuba rot today in the enemy dungeons for having attempted to infiltrate reactionary pro-US Cuban quarters centering around Luis Posada, known for having blown up a Cuban civilian airline over flight in Venezuela some years ago. Such response is perfectly natural, particularly owing to the war-mongering position of the US imperialists against Cuba dating back to the subversion of the national liberation struggle in 1898, and drastically intensifying with the advent of the Cuban people’s victorious war of liberation in 1959. Hence, NACAZAI rejects the claims made by the US government that such efforts by the Cuban 5, on behalf of the Cuban government and people to preserve their security and integrity, constitute aggression or criminal conduct against the security of the United States. We demand the unconditional release of the Cuban 5, the end to the US hostile policy against Cuba, and the immediate deportation of Luis Posada and others who seek violent means to subvert the will of Cuban people under the leadership of Raul Castro and the Communist Party of Cuba.
Whatever policy decisions the Cuban government makes are an internal matter of the Cuban people, and do not represent a threat to the people of the United States and the world. For this reason, we reject interference in the internal affairs of Cuba and denounce those working hand-in-hand with the US imperialists against the will of the overwhelming super-majority of the Cuban people as traitors to be dealt with as the Cuban government sees fit.
The people of the United States, in the interest of justice, should support the campaign to free Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, and René González. We need to continue struggling for a world of unity and independence, in full solidarity with our anti-imperialist brothers and sisters in Cuba.
