A National Democratic Front for the USA

--- Kevin Walsh, NACAZAI Editor

The strategy of the united front is a time-honored revolutionary strategy of forming a coalition of different classes and organizations which have objectively revolutionary lines, even if they differ ideologically. The vanguard party is distinct from the coalition but operates within it. The revolutionary classes are generally the productive classes, nearly always including the proletariat, the peasants, the petit-bourgeoisie, and the intellectuals. In times of extreme economic hardship in which a large lumpenproletariat has been created, the lumpenproletariat can play a revolutionary role, but in ordinary times the lumpenproletariat is objectively reactionary. In countries in which the nation is repressed by imperialism, and there is a distinct national bourgeoisie, the national bourgeoisie can also play a revolutionary role against the comprador bourgeoisie. In some cases, even semi-feudal landlords can play a revolutionary role against the comprador bourgeoisie.

The 1917 revolutions in Russia are classic examples of this tactic. The vanguard Russian Social-Democratic Labor Party (later the Communist Party of the Soviet Union) led a coalition of those who were opposed to the czar and later to the continuation of the war under Kerensky's republican government. With the defeat of Japan in 1945, the Korean Worker's Party led the formation of people's committees to govern Korea. These committees were smashed by the American occupiers in the south but provided the basis for a revolutionary government in the north. The people's committees included all elements who had been willing to resist the Japanese occupation, even the national bourgeoisie. The Chinese Communists used this tactic as well, though not without setbacks, due to the treachery of the Nationalist Kuomintang.

Unfortunately there have been times when the united front strategy was used incorrectly. Georgi Dimitroff's united front against fascism was an example of this. The failure of the Communists to address the particular injustices of the Versailles Treaty and imperialist finance capital (and particularly its predominantly Jewish character) needlessly alienated the German workers and peasants and made it easier for the German national bourgeoisie to sell anti-Communism to the German people. The attempt to make alliances with treacherous social-democrats who were tools of the imperialist grand-bourgeoisie also was not helpful. There have been others who have mistakenly believed that the united front means altering one's ideology to suit the prejudices of the masses, so as to tail the masses, rather than to lead them. The Communist Party USA has been particularly notorious for this, so that they have long been Communist in name only, now being only an irrelevant faction of the left wing of the Democratic Party.

There are several considerations for the formation of a national democratic front by a vanguard party:

1. Lead rather than follow. Maintain correct ideology, regardless of the mass line or the actual or perceived willingness of the masses to accept correct ideology. If the masses won't accept the correct ideology, they'll have to learn from their mistakes, but that's better in the long run than being flattered in their error by being told that which they want to hear and are prepared to believe. At least they will remember that we were right about that question.

2. Make certain that coalition partners are objectively revolutionary, not just revolutionary- sounding. If an organization calls itself "socialist" or "communist" but promotes practices that objectively help international finance capital (e.g. immigration, national nihilism, miscegenation) , they are our enemies, not our allies. If an organization calls itself "white nationalist" and support American soldiers in Iraq, that shows they are objectively helping ZOG, not European-Americans. If an organization calls itself "black nationalist" and is promoting integration and affirmative action, rather than African-American self-determination, it is likewise an enemy organization.

3. Avoid the pitfalls of both flattery and despair. Keep criticism and self-criticism objective and proportionate. The masses are not perfect and sometimes make serious errors, but they are all we have, and we cannot abandon them.

4. In propaganda, concentrate on why we have a common interest in defeating our common enemy, not on our differences of opinion on more long-term goals. Be honest with the masses. To govern ourselves means to be able to handle the truth.

In the USA, we are living in the center of imperialist finance capital and imperialist military might, and if our burden in smashing this power is therefore greater than that facing most people, then so is the potential victory for ourselves and the rest of the world. We have an unusual problem in that we have several different nationalities within the same country, often mutually hostile. We have a European-American nation, which is still the majority but shrinking in size. We have a rapidly expanding Mexican-American nationality. We have the long-term African-American nationality, a relic from the era of chattel slavery. There are also smaller groups, including Natives, Puerto Ricans, Asian-Americans, and even a few Polynesians. The one group that is definitely the enemy of the popular masses are the Jews. There can be no more denial of their consistently reactionary role, both within the USA, and around the world, as the primary force behind Zionism and international finance capital. No Jews may be allowed inside the national democratic front, nor must we deviate from ruthless opposition to them.

There are some white nationalists who mistakenly believe that our European-American people will liberate themselves without any help from other nationalities or even in opposition to other nationalities with genocidal intent. We will most probably take up the bulk of the struggle within the USA, and we may find that the masses of some other nationalities are slower than we are to come to terms with the need to struggle, but attempting to engage in sick "Turner Diaries" types of ethnic cleansing can only distract us from our legitimate purpose and is a sure way to derail our revolutionary gains in useless fratricide. We must come to an agreement with revolutionaries of other nationalities on an equitable division of the USA along historical lines and in proportion to population:

1. A European-American Republic should be established in the Northwest, the Intermountain West, the Midwest, the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic region, and Appalachia.

2. An African-American Republic should be estasblished in the deep South.

3. A Mexican-American Republic should be established in the Southwest.

4. Hawaii should be reserved for Asian-Americans and Polynesians.

5. Puerto Rico should be granted complete independence.

6. Natives should have autonomous areas approximating current reservations.

Unfortunately many Mexican-Americans have bought into the line that unrestricted immigration is good for them. In the long run, it will destroy their nationality too and only helps imperialist finance capital. We must drive home this point with them and encourage any genuinely patriotic, rather than cosmopolitan, elements among them.

Many African-Americans have been reduced to a lumpenproletarian existence, but this need not be a permanent state of affairs. There are African-American organizations that reject integration and affirmative action and desire separation and national self-determination. We must work with genuine black nationalist organizations, including those based on Black Panther, Muslim, and neo-Garveyite tendencies.

Puerto Rico has a long and proud tradition of guerrilla warfare against American colonialism. If most Puerto Ricans today are content with America's wealth, they may want to revive that tradition as the crisis in finance capital deepens. We must support those elements in Puerto Rico and among Puerto Ricans living on the mainland who are willing to struggle for independence.

Among the classes, most of the productive classes in the USA have revolutionary potential but are currently non-revolutionary. The proletariat and the petit-bourgeoisie are suffering most severely from job losses, stagnant wages, housing foreclosures, and inflation and definitely have revolutionary potential. The peasant class in the USA is very small in number but has suffered disproportionately at the hands of finance capital. Foreclosures are old news to them. The lumpenproletariat currently plays a reactionary role in the USA, but if unemployment continues to increase, there could be a large section of lumpenized workers who desire to return to the productive economy and are filled with revolutionary rage. The productive intellectuals (e.g. technicians, engineers, health care professionals) suffer from inflation, stagnant salaries, and the foreclosure crisis and can become revolutionary. The "chattering classes" of sham intellectuals, however, are likely to continue their reactionary role, even as the financial rug is pulled out from under them. It will be hard for them to face the reality of having to do real work for a living. Many of these people are, of course, Jewish.

Although there is national oppression within the USA, the grand-bourgeoisie is almost entirely comprador. The national bourgeoisie has almost always become transnational and cosmopolitan. Most of these elements are too dependent upon finance capital to play an objectively revolutionary role.

The platform for a national democratic front for the USA must include the following:

1. Opposition to immigration, integration, and cosmopolitanism. Promotion of separation and national self-determination for all nationalities within the USA with the eventual breakup of the USA into separate republics on national lines.

2. Opposition to the Jews.

3. Opposition to imperialist wars. No more "supporting 'our' troops." Retool factories that have been used to make weapons of imperialist war into making goods for consumption by the people. End large standing armed forces. The republics will be defended by people's militias.

4. No more unemployment or social parasitism. We must demand that all people be required to earn their own living by honest and useful labor and that all will have the opportunity to do so. Jobs can be created rebuilding industries that were shipped overseas and by repairing our decaying national infrastructure.

5. Cancel the national debt and seize all assets of transnational corporations. Those who betrayed us and stole wealth from us they never earned have no right to it.

6. Decent living standards for all people. Given the material wealth of the USA, there is no reason anyone should be paid less than a living wage. Let us ensure that all have access to health care, education, decent housing, transportation, and adequate food.

7. A self-reliant economy. We must, as far as possible, produce that which we consume and consume that which we produce. Dependence upon imports and exports leads to imperialist wars, and we must put an end to it.
