Seventy years ago, on 28 April, 1937 President Saddam Hussein was born in Tikrit, Northern Iraq. Throughout his years on this earth, President Saddam Hussein had stood defiantly against racist Zionism and terrorism against Arabs. An outspoken critic of the Israeli unending aggression on Arab lands and territories of Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, as well as the Zionist state's terrorism against the Arab race, Saddam was the last of a dying breed.

A Pan-Arabism, Saddam stood for justice, morality and dignity of the Arab race. He stood against United States manipulation-and-divide-and-exploit policy in the Middle East. He championed the noble cause of the Palestinian people.

These special features placed him ugly on Western malicious propaganda. He survived many attempts at his life, attempts which were the direct footings of the US-Israeli complicity. Through United Nations unjust embargo, over a million Iraqi people, most of whom were children died to force Iraqis to pick arms against Saddam.

I last met President Saddam Hussein a month before the ongoing American led Zionist-designed aggression and destruction of the Arab nation. He talked lengthily about his concerned for the plight of Africa and its people. Throughout my stay in Iraq before the murderous war, I lived at the Hotel Al-Rasheed in central Baghdad. I had the opportunity to tour many places around the country without fear of gun shots here and there, suicide bombings and bomb explosions, or been molested by an invading foreign force.

As we marked the 70^th birth day anniversary of Saddam, without him, we in the Saddam Hussein Foundation for Africa (SHUFA) enjoin all people who love freedom, who advocate for justice and international rule of law, to condemn the genocide killings in Iraq and demand for an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all foreign forces of aggression out of the country; and end the sufferings of the Iraqi people. For SHUFA, we mark the event with a declaration of week-long prayers for Allah to save the Iraqi people from the holocaust machine of US imperialism, starting from today 24 ^th. April 2007. We call on all and sundry to join SHUFA in praying for Allah's Great Love, Most Gracious and Most Merciful to befall the clouds of Iraq and entire Arab race.
