The image of the sun shining all over the world
There are portraits of President Kim Il Sung smiling like the sun in Pyongyang and other places of the Democratic People?s Republic of Korea. This is the sun-like image of Kim Il Sung enshrined deep in hearts of the world people.
The sun-like image of the President is a brilliant picture initiated by the noblest moral obligation of Kim Jong Il to uphold President Kim Il Sung through all ages.
Four days later after the sudden demise of the President, leader Kim Jong Il, who was in bitter grief, called an official and gave an instruction to depict a smiling image of the President in his lifetime as a portrait. That day he chose a photo of the President, who was smiling most brightly in his lifetime, and assigned the work of depicting a portrait of the President in the funeral ceremony to the Mansudae Art Studio.
Some days later, he met an official of the Mansudae Art Studio to acquaint himself with the newly-depicting portrait of the President. He said that the Korean people would be surprised to see the portrait of the President and think that the President remains alive.
That day, he gave detailed instructions to depict the portrait of the President.

Kim Jong Il who stood in front of the portrait of the President said that the portrait of the President gives strongly impression on the President?s smiling face in his lifetime. The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung will always live in the hearts of the people, he continued.
He instructed to the official to depict the portrait on a higher level, saying to decorate the trim of the portrait with white flowers, like the national flower of Korea, magnolia, and portraying the President?s favorite necktie, color of suit and pattern.
Indeed, his heart and soul dedicated to making the portrait of smiling image of President Kim Il Sung was endless.
The portrait of President Kim Il Sung completed under the initiative and leadership of Kim Jong Il incorporate his great philosophy.
It remains his intention and firm faith to uphold the President, who devoted his all for national prosperity, sharing joy and sorrow with the people with the idea of ?The people are my God? in his lifetime, and depict the portrait reflecting the hearts of the Korean nation and mankind who are yearning for the President.
President Kim Il Sung, the most prominent great man produced in the 20th century, was the greatest of great men unparalleled in the world and the eternal sun that illuminates the road ahead of humankind with the great Juche idea.
The sun-like image of the President has profound meaning that the President is always be with humankind as the eternal sun who leads the Korean nation and humankind century after century. The portrait contains the behest of the President to dedicate all for victory of the Juche cause with new confidence and optimism in the bright future ahead.
The portrait will remain in the hearts of the world people as an undying picture and humankind will always be with the President Kim Il Sung.

We had the honor of participating in the 11th Kimjongilia Festival held in Pyongyang, capital of Songun Korea, in February with ardent wish to celebrate the greatest holiday of the world progressive humankind.
We saw Kimjongilia during our visit to
A lustrous and passionate flower with red color, strong stem and big flower with double-flowering---it is the king and sun of flowers with the personality of the leader.
We were completely fascinated by Kimjongilia.
We were greatly impressed by the fact that a Japanese horticulturist bred the unique flower in the world by devoting all his efforts to the flower for 20-odd years to depict the greatness of Kim Jong Il with his ardent enthusiasm. He presented the flower to Kim Jong Il, naming it Kimjongilia, reflecting the earnest feelings of humankind for the good health and bright future of Kim Jong Il.
Kimjongilia fully reflects the greatness of Kim Jong Il.
It mirrors the sun image of Kim Jong Il, the peerlessly great man, a representative of the beautiful emotion and intention of humanity including justice, truth, independence, revolution, love, passion, happiness, prosperity, peace and future.
Kimjongilia has such a glorious red color!
Kimjongilia is fraught with Kim Jong Il's idea, sentiment, spirit and taste.
Kim Jong Il once said that red is his favorite color and he likes the red flag best.
Kim Jong Il's favorite color is red. This is because it is associated with the precious life of President Kim Il Sung, a pioneer of the revolutionary cause of Juche, and it reflects Kim Jong Il's firm faith, will and revolutionary principle to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche to the end.
Stressing that the red flag is a symbol of his faith, Kim Jong Il said that the red flag should be held higher when cowards drop it and even if a revolutionary dies.
With its pure red color, green leaves of heart-shape, and its thick stout stem, Kimjongilia reflects the great idea embodied in the Juche cause of Kim Jong Il for the independent cause, his energetic leadership for the revolutionary cause of Songun, ardent love for righteous man and humankind?s admiration for him.
Indeed, thanks to Kim Jong Il, Kimjongilia could be born and the world people?s reverence for him is so enthusiastic that Kimjongilia could be in full bloom.
Kimjongilia is in full bloom in 60-odd countries and the world's admiration for Kim Jong Il now becomes the trend of the times. There was an era of tulips and of roses in history. Now however, the era of Kimjongilia has opened in present world!
It is the ardent wish, pride and honor of the world?s people to take part in the Kimjongilia Festival.
We love the revolution for global independence and love the red color symbolizing the revolution as Kim Jong Il, sun of Songun, does. We live, treasuring Kimjongilia in our hearts, and struggle for the cause of global independence with full of confidence in and optimistic about sure victory.
Kimjonngilia, the flower of the sun, will be in full bloom along with eternal prosperity of the Kim Jong Il era and boundless wishes of humankind.
